LIPOSUCTION NOMENCLATURE AND FEES

These are guidelines. Fees are finalized at the consultation. There is no longer an additional charge based on body mass index.

ABDOMEN: The fee of $4000 now (2009) includes waist and tops of hips/buttocks if needed. If the flanks are a problem, then treatment needs to be divided into two sessions, one for the front of the abdomen, one for the flanks, waist, and tops of hips & buttocks. If these two sessions are separated by more than a week, the first area treated has started to become firm and swollen, which makes smoothly joining the two areas difficult. That firmness won’t go away for up to 6 months. Therefore, what needs to be done is schedule to the flanks, waist, and tops of hips & buttocks 3 to 7 days after the abdomen. Total fee for the two procedures is $6800

SKIN REMOVAL (mini-tummy-tuck) at the same time as abdominal liposuction is $1500, or $2500 if done alone. Usually a transverse incision is used; occasionally a vertical incision is more appropriate. Fees are the same whether or not there is already a scar present; the scar will be removed as part of the procedure. This gets rid of the dent and/or the roll above it. Recovery is the same as for liposuction alone.

FLANKS, WAIST, UPPER HIPS: A diagonal continuity from the waist and hips upward onto the back (“love handles”). $3400

HIPS: Almost never done alone; done the same day as outer thighs, $800.

OUTER THIGHS: Lateral (outside) surface of the upper leg, i.e. over the femur. $4000.

INNER THIGHS: May be the upper portion only, or down to the knees. If the knees will ever be done, they should be done at the same time so as to allow proper blending. Upper portion only, $3400; including inner knees, $4200.

LOWER LEGS AND ANKLES, almost always including INNER THIGHS and INNER KNEES: $5000.

FEMALE BREASTS: $3400, or $3900 including armpits. Liposuction takes weight off the breasts but won’t improve shape. It’s like you took a photo and reduced it in size. It is much cheaper than surgical reduction, with a rapid recovery and essentially no scarring. Breast liposuction plus surgical breast lift using the “simplified” procedure, which does not require a scar along the bottom of the breast: $6400. This is a great combination and truly a better procedure than surgical breast reduction via a McKissock incision.

MALE BREASTS: $3400, or $3900 if armpits need to be done. They are just as much work as female breasts.

BACKS OF ARMS: $3400. With armpits, $3900. With armpits and down the sides (flanks), $4500.

ARMPITS: $3400. Also see above.

CHIN, JOWLS, JAWLINE, NECK: $2600. Add $1400 for lower face & neck lift. Add $1200 for excision of wattle (“turkey neck,” rarely required)

PAYMENT

A deposit of $600 (for each procedure date) is required when scheduling. The balance is due 10 days before surgery (cashier’s check, credit card, or cash). A procedure may be rescheduled or canceled with more than 10 days notice with no forfeiture of the deposit. With less than 10 days notice, cancellation results in loss of the deposit. Rescheduling is possible up until one working day before surgery.
