CURRICULUM VITAE, Gordon Bruce Roget

Born:  June 22, 1949, Yankton, South Dakota.  Father an M.D., mother an R.N.  Mother’s father an M.D., mother’s mother an R.N.

Elementary and high school:  Lodi, California.  Four B’s in high school, the rest A’s.  Won Mathematics Association of America competitive test at my high school as a junior and tied for first (with Mark Hoff) as a senior.  Scored 800 on math on the SAT, 632 verbal.  Go-kart racer, amateur radio operator, also holder of First Class Commercial Radiotelephone License (never used).

College:  University of California, Davis, 1966-1971, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.  Dean’s honor list most quarters.  Member of ski team (but not very good).  MCAT scores 735 math and 685 science or vice versa, without a preparation course.

Medical school:  University of Lausanne, Switzerland, 1971-1977.  Passed all 13 subparts of the Federal Licensure Exam (FLEX) upon return. 

Internship:  University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa, in Family Practice, 1978-1979.

Residency:  San Joaquin General Hospital, Stockton, California, in Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1979-1982.  Board Certified at first eligible date, 1984.

Other medical training
Trained in treatment of varicose veins via the American Society of Phlebology in 1989 with updates at several of their workshops since.  Liposuction training in 1997 with Dr. Jeffrey Klein, the originator of tumescent liposuction.  Hair transplant training 2005 with the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery.  I have a great mentor two blocks away, Dr. James Kim.  I did my first “tummy tuck” as a resident, removing a 7 pound wedge of fat and skin when closing the abdomen after a hysterectomy. 

Private practice:  Address above, 1982-present.  I stopped doing obstetrics in 2000 and since 2005 my practice is entirely cosmetic and hormone replacement.  I do all my surgeries in the office, using local anesthesia, which is safer, cheaper, and better. 

Family:  Son born 1978, daughter born 1981, identical twin daughters born 1990.

Non-medical activities:  Astronomer, pilot, scuba diver, skier, photographer and print-maker, computer-builder, cowboy action shooter..
